Justin's recovery from the traumatic brain injury suffered in Nicaragua four years ago continues everyday.Although there are challenges, Justin remains determined to seek out opportunities and overcome obstacles. Justin is now a senior in the Eller College of Management. He has been applying for summer internships as he gets closer to graduating with degrees in Management Information Systems and Operations Management. Outside of school, Justin has been focusing on yoga. Yoga has helped Justin regain balance and retain his flexibility, strength and be mindful of his movements. One very important aspect Justin has received from a weekly yoga practice is a sense of community. Many people who suffer from a traumatic brain injury feel isolated and alone while recovering from the injury. Justin is no different. Yoga has helped Justin establish an important aspect of healing: connection. March 14th through the 20th is officially "National Brain Awareness Week"  and Justin is involved in a local yoga awareness event about brain injury awareness. On March 26th at Pima West Campus, there will be a "yogathon" and the documentary "Crash Reel" about Kevin Pearce's traumatic brain injury will be featured. Brain boosting benefits are sure to be experienced!

Justin is also planning on taking the yoga instructor training course this summer. His background as a gymnastics instructor prior to his injury and passion for helping others achieve fitness goals should prove to be a great foundation throughout his training.
