Rays of Hope 2013

This past month, Justin participated in the Brain Injury Alliance of Arizona workshop called Rays of Hope (http://biaaz.org/home). He was able to interact with Chris Hotaling who suffered a traumatic brain injury several years ago. Chris shared his road to recovery, the struggles and challenges and how he has adapted and works through the problems that his brain injury deficits cause.

Justin applied for and was selected as a finalist for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Scholarship. He was interviewed by a panel of four members of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Phoenix recently. The pictures above were taken the day of the interview outside of Senator McCain's office.

Justin has met up with some of his friends (Raymond, Eric, David and Hector) who continue to offer encouragement and motivation.

Unfortunately, Justin's application for disability was denied again. He may have to find a lawyer to take his case now. The work involved in organizing and trouble-shooting all of the therapies, applications and phone-calls is extremely time-consuming and often frustrating.

Other plans for Justin's summer include:

  • An accounting class at Pima Community College
  • Additional speech and language therapy at the U of A
  • Neurofeedback Therapy
  • Working out
